On Saturday, I went to the club to screw Tide. There was also an Egres from Helsinki, but they had a man in engineering. It was agreed that Egres would call first, and Tide would finish the night, so the Czechs would reverse. Both bands had their own mixers. I was driving Tide on Wing Rack and Egres, Wing Compact, both connected to the X32 house by a stereopher. I plugged mine in when it happened to be so nice near the mixer. There was a bug wire stuck in channel 1, so I jumped 11.2 channels over and connected to the following. I went out of the house mixer to reset the dynamics of these channels, the eq, and all the sends, and linked the channels to the stereo, so that the controls that were used as the tomato canals wouldn't mess things up. We got our own Czech out of the way, and we changed the band. Egres didn't come all the way to the house mixer for some weird reason, even though he was using adjacent channels. For me, the channels 3-4 and Egres, straight to the mixer channels 5-6...
There had also been a house technique to take care of the lights of the evening, so he looked into the situation and ended up changing the mix of the house when it was somewhat odd. Egres started to hear, and they got the check done, too.
Tonight's bet Egres was doing very well, and he had to switch bands. We used the same drum set, so the drum threat from Egres and the connection to his own, as well as his listening, the same thing. We also had our own wire ready for the drummer's song, when, indeed, both bands were encouraged by the same man. No other instruments had been distributed, so we're done.
The show starts, and I grab the mutts, and then, in the same time, there's an earring cycle of singing mikes. Quick, slide down, and the cycle stops. At the same time, the band started the first song, and it was the first bass hit, which also came with a freezing volta. A quick solution that smaller than the basar, when I already realized that the masters are now coming at a completely different level than what in Czech and need to be promoted. Reducing the masters fairly helped, and the other instruments started coming in with the right vola. The song and the bass, and we're good. This took less than 10 sec of time, so luckily, the situation was normalised in the near future. The band has been smart enough to think that the first song is the one where the instruments start in turn, and not all of them blow up. The idea is that if you ever get mixed up on a flight (some kind of festival bet, or similar), it gives you a nice time to take over the instruments. I've got the house on the tech, so the masters are coming in fast.. He peeked at the mixer in the house, and said the other half was going to pry. I knew it wasn't me, and actually the masters are going to leave even a really small, and the L & R levels are even. So the gaines of the house mixer had changed in connection with the roasting, which is a perfectly reasonable explanation, but there were also different levels of gain in the channels, even though they were linked to the stereo. Gain to the same level, and the whole thing is in order. At that point, the gain was 25.5db, and during the check, it was somewhere between 10 and 15db.
Oh, by the way, it happened on the show, that when the band showed up, I picked up a little bit of a peep, and I think my knucklehead touched the maester's muffin... Well, a few words stayed for the next presentation, but that's never happened before.
Slides have become more frequent in the paddy mixer, especially in one of the rientalas in the city center, when you start adjusting, for example, the guitar solo a bit bigger, and at the same time, behind the back, someone decides to enter the stage, with the result that they push my elbow. If the finger happens to be on the slide at the moment, it causes a chain reaction to a lift of about 20 centimeters.
Little adjustments on the job, but with all of it, it's going to be a night. 😀
Yes, of course, there was a real photographer, whose shots below.
